Yamila Diaz Rahi

Yamila Diaz Rahi was born on 1978 at Buenos Aires, Argentina to a doctor father (Lebanese descent) and a Spanish mother who worked as a home manager. She has two sisters named Maria and Yael. Yamila was an Economics student and had no plans to make her career in modeling. But everything changed suddenly for Yamila when a modeling agency scout noticed her in Buenos Aires. Then she moved to Milan where her modeling career began.

She made a tough beginning as it took her some time to break through. So this exotic charmer had to start by appearing in department store catalogues for several years. But in the year of 1999 an appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Calendar saw her rise from a mere girl to a glamorous model.

The big guns in modeling world like 'Glamour' and 'Cosmopolitan' took notice of her. She was also watched closely by the people at Victoria's Secret. Then Yamila modeled lingerie and also appeared on the cover of many magazines worldwide.

After doing the swimsuit and lingerie modeling stint she also appeared on the covers of 'Marie Claire', the European editions of 'Max', 'GQ' and 'Shape' and 'Elle'(both US and Spain). Yamila then went on to join the beautiful Estella Warren and Laetitia Casta for the 2000 'Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition'.

Then she carried on with her work by appearing as one of the newest 'Cover Girl' models, joining 'Niki Taylor', and later on appeared in ads for 'Replay jeans', Ungaro's 'Fleur de Diva' perfume, and Italian cosmetics 'Bio-Etyc'.

In addition to all this Yamila made an important appearance in an Italian feature film entitled 'Il pesce innamorato' (which meant 'Love of the Fishes'), alongside Italian actor Leonardo Pieraccioni.

She fully appreciates the role of 'lady luck' in her life. In spite of the glamorous life she now leads Yamila has never developed the diva attitude that many models are known for. She fully understands that looks are not going to be enough in the short life span of the models. Therefore this talented South American beauty was attracted towards learning Italian and English and being associated with literature, most importantly Brazilian writers.

Yamila currently resides with her boyfriend, Italian artist, Giuliano in Manhattan.
