Patricia Velasquez

Patricia Velasquez was born on 31st of January 1971 at Guajira, Venezuela. As a child her life was not all that smooth and glamorous. She was admitted to the San Vicente de Paul High School and finished her graduation in the year of 1987. Later she went to the college to study engineering and accounting. Everyone hoped that she would work in the Venezuelan oil industry after finishing her education but that was not to happen. One of Patricia`s friends wanted to become a model. So she send her photograph to the agency but in that photograph Patricia also featured. The agency wanted Patricia as a model. So she had to discontinue her studies and left for Milan to persue her modelling career. She even took part in the beauty pageants competeton in Venezuela.

Patricia appeared in fashion shows for well known designers like Bella Freud, Antonio Berardi, Corinne Cobson, Claude Montana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Jean Paul Gaultier, Owen Gaster and Dolce & Gabbana. She has also appeared in commercials for Roberto Verino`s Verino fragrance, Victoria`s Secret, Chanel`s Allure and Monsoon. She even made her appearance for Sports Illustrated`s Swimsuit Edition in 1994. She was also contracted with IMG in Paris, Ford in New York, Models 1 in London, Vogue and Elle.

She is also successful in her acting career. She made her debut in ` Le Jaguar ` as Maya in the year of 1996. Her other noted films include ` Eruption ` in 1997, ` Beowulf `, ` No Vacancy ` , ` The Mummy ` and ` Façade ` in 1999. She was hugely applauded for her role of Anck-Su-Namun in ` The Mummy `. In the year 2000 her films that got released are ` Committed `, ` Turn It Up ` and ` Saint Bernard `. Her next big hit was the ` The Mummy Returns ` where she protrayed the Pharaoh`s untouchable evil wife.

Although she has become a star now but still she could not forget her days of growing up in Venezuala. So she has started a foundation to help the Venezuelan public. She has also campained to fight aids.
