Fiona Apple was born on 17th of September 1977 to the couple of Brandon Maggart and Diane McAfee. She was born in an artistic family. So at a young age she came to Los Angeles to stay with her dad and complete her high school education. Her real passion was in music. So she made some demo tapes and returned back to her home in NYC for Christmas. One tape was handed to a friend who at that time had great relation with a music industry executive. So the demo tape which contained 3 songs was passed on to the executive. The executive was satisfied by the songs and therefore played it in a holiday party. At that party producer and manager Andrew Slater was also present. He called Fiona and from that time onwards they are working together. At first she used to write two songs in a week hardly. After she was satisfied with all her songs she entered the studio. She named her album 'Tidal' because she felt that life is a combination of flow and ebb like the tide.
She feels that if the song conveys original message then it becomes an art regardless of anyone's opinion. So she feels that song must tell the true story.
'Tidal' contains ten songs and each is different. She thinks herself as a better songwriter than a singer. She used to play the piano when she was about eight years old. She also used to write songs and sing then on her own because she believed that there was no meaning for others to sing those songs.
Some of her songs include 'Shadowboxer', 'Slow Like Honey' and 'Criminal'. In the year of 1999 Fiona contributed towards giving some music to 'MAGNOLIA'.
Although new in the music world she speaks like a veteran. It can be understood from her knowledge and wisdom that she possesses. The music and the lyrics are incredible to say the least. It seems that she has arrived to capture the whole world.
