David Beckham was born on May 2, 1975 at Leytonstone, London to the couple of David Edward Beckham and Sandra West. His mother was a well known hairdresser.
As a child he always dreamt of becoming a great football player and representing his country at the World Cup. When he was eight years old he started for Ridgeway Rovers and scored more than a hundred goals over three seasons for his team in the Enfield District League. Then he was signed by Manchester United to their youth training program when he was only 14 years of old. Other than him, his youth team featured the Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and the Neville brothers. They all later on went to play for England under David's captaincy.
In May 1992, Beckham took a major role in helping United's youth team win the F.A. Youth Cup within 10 months of moving to United.
He began his professional football career at the age of 17 for Manchester United.
David Beckham scored in his debut match in the European Cup against the Turkish side Galatassary. From the first day he started to play for his club he became the darling of Manchester. He made his Debut for his national team against Moldova in September 1997.
According to many he has terrific ball control and he is the master of the set pieces specializing in free-kicks. He has got the outstanding ability to lift the ball over the 'wall' and send it towards the far post, but at the last moment bend it back towards the near post thus confusing the keeper and making the ball just dip under the bar for a wonderful goal. He was the sensation that England people needed desperately to raise their hopes of winning the World Cup the second time.
David scored his first goal for England on June 26 1998 at the Stade Felix-Bollaert in Lens in the 2-0 victory against Colombia during the World Cup. Like other great players his temperament was not that great. It was proved once again against Argentina in France when a moment of rash anger on Diego Simeone made him receive a red card.
England went on to loose that match on penalties and the public started to show negative reactions towards him.
But in the following year he won the treble with Manchester United thus conquering the Premiership, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League. In that same year in the European Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford he delivered such accurate and perfectly weighted passes that Dwight Yorke only had to make contact to score both the goals against Inter Milan.
That was a great year for him individually and for his club Manchester United. He then went on to sign a new contract with Manchester United until 2005 thus making him the highest paid footballer in Britain at the moment in the year May 2002. But due to some disputes with the Manchester United coach Sir Alex Fergusson he was later sold to Spanish giant Real Madrid.
In October 2001, he was voted the #1 best male body in 'Celebrity Bodies' magazine (UK).
He was also voted the best dressed male by readers of 'Heat' magazine (UK) in December 2001.
He got engaged to 'Posh Spice' Victoria Adams (part of the British Pop group the Spice Girls) on 25th January, 1998. Then his first Son Brooklyn Joseph Beckham was born.
The couple named their son 'Brooklyn' because he was conceived in Brooklyn on 5th March 1999. He became the father of his second child son Romeo on September 1, 2002. The baby weighed 7lbs 4oz. Most recently he had his third child.
