Vin Diesel was born on 18th of July 1967 at New York, New York, USA. At the age of seven he and his friends visited to a Greenwich Village theatre. They got surprised after reaching the theatre when a woman appeared on stage, and offered them a script and $20 each, on the condition that after school they would attend the theatre. It all started from there. By the time he was 17 years old he had a very good physique. So he became a bouncer at some New York’s hippest clubs and changed his name to Vin Diesel.
After finishing high school, Vin started as an English major at Hunter College. But after three years he decided to devote more time towards acting and take it to the next stage. So he opted straight for Hollywood, always thinking that there should be some value given to an experienced theatre actor like him. But he was wrong. After a year of struggle and with no success he returned to New York. Then his mother who is an astrologer/ psychiatrist helped a great deal. She introduced him to a book called 'Feature Films' which was written by Rick Schmidt. Her advice helped Vin immediately.
Vin got more confidence about himself and thought that he could make his own movies. He wrote a script named 'Multi Facial' about his own life experiences, about how he handled every situation before becoming an actor. This film was shot within three days at a cost of $3,000. He acted, directed and also produced this film. To his amazement 'Multi Facial' got a noisy reception in the 1995 Cannes Film Festival.
Vin then returned to Los Angeles. In Los Angeles the combined effort of Vin and his friend raised almost $50,000 through telemarketing so that they could fund the making of Vin's first feature, 'Strays'. The film was shown in the 1997 'Sundance Film Festival'.
It received an encouraging reception at first but the film didn't sell as expected.
Vin got disappointed yet again, but to his surprise received a dream call from his new agent. He found out that Steven Spielberg liked 'Multi Facial' and wanted to meet Vin on the set of Amistad. They combined immediately for Spielberg's next blockbuster, 'Saving Private Ryan'. The role was especially written for him.
Vin's star began to shine brightly all of a sudden. That time, director Brad Bird was looking for someone for the leading role in the animated film 'The Iron Giant'. Coincidentally, Vin's assistant at Sundance, was working for Bird at that time. She gave Bird a copy of Multi Facial which later helped Vin to appear for the role.
Next he appeared as Richard Riddick in the flick 'Pitch Black'. The performance in 'Pitch Black' earned him a lot of devoted fans and the fame and stardom he deserved. Then he starred in 'Boiler Room', 'Knockaround Guys', 'The Fast and The Furious' and 'Diablo'. He is perfectly built for the action movies but he has got those extra qualities that he has already proved.
He is such a man who values his family very much.
